Low income tenants in Peterborough City and County who do NOT live in rent-geared-to-income (RGI) housing and owe rent arrears to their landlord may apply to the Rent Bank.
A maximum of two (2) months rent arrears can be considered
Assistance is available only once in a two (2) year period.
Assistance is available for rent arrears only. Mortgages, Last month's rent, money owing for damages to a unit, or Landlord Tenant Board/Sheriff fees cannot be considered
The Rent Bank is funded by the Province of Ontario and administered according to provincial guidelines. Income criteria are based on Household Income Limits for Peterborough City and County.

The Winter Warmth Fund enables low income households to avoid losing heat and warmth during the cold winter months. Services provided include financial assistance for bill/arrears payments
Low income customers of Peterborough Utilities Services (PUS) may apply for FUSE if they are at risk of losing their hydro or need help to restore service. FUSE funds can be used for PUS utility arrears and security deposits.
Assistance may be available to individuals or families a maximum of once per year except in extraordinary circumstances. Maximum levels of assistance may vary according to availability of funds.
The PUS may give grace periods (temporary delay of disconnection) to applicants while HRC processes applications. Grace periods may be refused based on payment history and amount of arrears. They may be suspended without notice to the customer at the sole discretion of PUS.
