Residents have a number of options for affordable rental housing or affordable home ownership in the City and County including subsidized or rent-geared-to-income housing and housing developed through the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program.
Housing Access Peterborough (HAP) is the coordinated access program for subsidized (rent-geared-to-income) housing in Peterborough City and County. You can pick up an application form at the Housing Access Peterborough office, the Housing Resource Centre, or from any of the housing providers listed in the rent-geared to-income housing search. Applications for subsidized (rent-geared-to-income) housing are now available online.
When you apply, your name will be added to the waiting list for the providers you selected on your application. Your place on the waiting list is based on the date HAP receives your application. Wait times for subsidized housing vary based on the unit size and length of the waiting list, with longer waits for singles under the age of 60. Applicants who are victims of abuse may get special priority. It is very important that you call HAP if your address changes. HAP mails forms from time to time to everyone on the waiting list and if the form is not returned you will lose your place on the waiting list.
