Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)

You could receive money off of your electricity bill every month!

The Housing Resource Centre is the designated agent for Peterborough City and County for this program. Call us at 705-743-2272 if you need help to apply.

The Ontario Electricity Support Program is implemented by the Ontario Energy Board to provide a monthly credit that will make electricity more affordable for low income electricity consumers. Low income households may qualify for a reduction on their electricity bill through the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP). The credit amount is a sliding scale based on the number of people living in the home and their total household income.

Consumers who unavoidably use up more electricity for electric heat and medical devices may be eligible to receive a higher credit. First Nations, Metis and Inuit also qualify for a higher level of assistance.

If you have filed your taxes in the past two years, your income has not changed since you filed, and you are able to complete an online application, you can apply here. If you have not filed your taxes in the past two years, your income has changed since you filed or you cannot complete the online application, you can still apply for OESP by contacting us at (705) 743-2272 ext. 207.

If approved, the credit will appear directly on your electricity bill in approximately 6-8 weeks.
