Community Counselling & Resource Centre

Housing Resource Centre

It is the vision of the HRC that every person in Peterborough City and County lives free of poverty with access to secure housing and community supports.

The Housing Resource Centre (HRC) is a program of Community Counselling & Resource Centre. We are a non-profit organization funded mainly by the City and County of Peterborough and the United Way of Peterborough and District.

We offer service to ALL people at all ages and stages of their lives. All of our services are free and available to people with or without income. We understand the problems of people living on low incomes, and we help people to try and solve their housing problems.

Our Services:

Vacancy Listings
Private landlords from the City and County list their vacant units at the Housing Resource Centre. These listings are available on this website (Vacancy Listings Tab above) or in person at our office. Units range from rooms to multiple bedroom apartments and houses. Our listings are kept up to date within 14 days. (This means we call every landlord every 14 days to confirm that the unit is still available.) We also compile a weekly summary of vacancies that are publicly advertised on other websites. You can find links to these other websites on our Vacancy Listings page.

Landlords can submit their vacancies online and list their vacancies FREE. We do NOT recommend tenants OR inspect units. Screening is the responsibility of the landlord and the tenant.

Housing Help
We provide housing help, support, and information about how to find or keep housing. We also can help people to obtain the services of other organizations such as:

  • help to apply for social assistance
  • help to apply for emergency financial assistance for rent or utility arrears, deposits, etc.
  • help to get legal advice on housing matters
  • help to apply for affordable housing
  • help to avoid eviction
  • help to find emergency housing or shelter
  • help to obtain personal or credit counselling
  • help with emergency supplies such as food or medication, if you are homeless
